QENTOL,YEN Thermal Imaging Camera Stations installed in Gulf Islands

Areas being monitored by thermal imaging cameras in the Southern Gulf Islands.

Transient Killer Whale Breaching in Tumbo Channel. Captured by thermal imaging camera on November 5, 2024.

In October 2024, the QENTOL,YEN team set up two thermal imaging whale detection systems, each one consisting of two cameras. This project is a collaboration between our QENTOL,YEN team and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. This project would also not be possible without the generosity of the homeowners that provided their properties to host our cameras.
